GGP Handover Ceremony for the Cluster Munition Clearance Project has been held (12 March 2026)

On 12 March 2026, the handover ceremony was held at the office of the grant recipient, Norwegian People’s Aid Kosovo (NPA Kosovo) in Mitrovica. The ceremony was attended by Mr. TANIGAKI, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan in Kosovo; Mr. Nielsen, the Country Director of the NPA Kosovo and his project members; and Mr. Sallova, Director of the Kosovo Mine Action Centre, Ministry of Defense. This project was implemented through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects.

Overview:  The project aims to clear cluster munitions and explosive remnants from a total of 26.48 hectares in Bajgora Village in Mitrovica Municipality and Livagje Village in Gracanica Municipality. The successful implementation of the project has ensured safety of the residents and those who are engaging in farming and grazing. By ensuring safe living environment for the residents, the project also contributes to the revitalization of economic activities in the regions. Furthermore, we will further strengthen relations between Japan and Kosovo through our contribution to Kosovo's national project of removing landmines and unexploded ordnance.
