Reception on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor (30 January 2025)

On January 30, the reception on the occasion of His Majesty the Emperor's birthday was held. This year, which marks the 16th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Kosovo, approximately 200 guests attended, including Her Excellency Dr. Vjosa OSMANI-SADRIU, President of the Republic of Kosovo, as guests of honor. At this reception, we served sushi using seafood imported from Japan (scallops and yellowtail), and guests enjoyed sake from Yamaguchi Prefecture and also Japanese whiskey. In addition, the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra performed National Anthem of both countries, using musical instruments provided by Japan.
In his welcome speech, Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori noted that last year in July, our Minister of Foreign Affairs at that time, Ms. Yoko Kamikawa (predecessor of our current Minister Mr. Iwaya), visited Kosovo and further deepened our high-level dialogue through meetings with Prime Minister Mr. Kurti, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Ms. Gervalla, and Former President Ms. Jahjaga. We also celebrated various cultural and artistic events. Thus, last year became an epochal milestone of the strong and enduring friendship between our two countries.
He also said that the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, which will open in April this year, is expected to be an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations in a variety of fields, including economy, business, academia and culture.
