Reception on the occasion of the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor (14 February 2024)

On February 14, the reception on the occasion of His Majesty the Emperor's birthday was held. This year, which marks the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Kosovo, over 150 guests attended including Her Excellency Dr. Vjosa OSMANI-SADRIU, President of the Republic of Kosovo, and His Excellency Mr. Albin KURTI, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, as guests of honor. At this reception, a Japanese chef based in Turkey served sushi using seafood imported from Japan (scallops and yellowtail), and guests enjoyed sake from Akita Prefecture, Japanese whiskey, and Japanese beer. In addition, the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra performed using musical instruments provided by Japan.
In his welcome speech, Ambassador MIZUUCHI Ryuta noted that over the past 15 years, Japan has been supporting Kosovo's nation-building and economic development, as well as contributing to the peace and security in the Balkans. He introduced that the five Japanese companies which are operating in neighboring countries were attending the reception for the purpose of business exchange. Two Kosovo judo athletes who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, including an Olympic gold medalist, were also present, and Ambassador MIZUUCHI described that the outstanding achievements in judo is proof of the fruitful cooperative relationship between Kosovo and Japan. Regarding visas to enter Japan, he announced that holders of diplomatic and official passports will be able to enter without a visa, and those holders of ordinary passports will be able to obtain their visas issued at our consulate. Following the announcement regarding visas, Ambassador unveiled the postal stamps produced to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations together with Her Excellency Ms. Artanë RIZVANOLLI, Minister of Economy. He also mentioned that the Osaka World Expo to be held in 2025, which will be a good opportunity to increase Kosovo's presence internationally, including in Japan and Asia.
