2023/2/23
On February 22, the reception on the occasion of His Majesty the Emperor's birthday was held. It was the first National Day Reception since our embassy in Kosovo opened in 2020. Around 100 guests attended including Her Excellency Dr. Vjosa OSMANI-SADRIU, President of the Republic of Kosovo, and His Excellency Mr. Albin KURTI, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, as guest of honor to celebrate with us. During the reception, the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra performed with instruments that Japan donated, and everyone enjoyed “sake” and “shochu” from various regions of Japan.
In his welcome speech, Ambassador MIZUUCHI Ryuta congratulated Kosovo on its 15th anniversary of Independence on February 17, and shared the joy of celebrating Japan's National Day with those who have contributed for Kosovo's independence and its development. He noted that Japan has been constantly supporting Kosovo in its nation building in many areas, such as environment protection including waste management and air pollution control, and various fields of social economic development including disaster risk reduction, education, health, agriculture and culture. Japan also has been supporting RTK, a public broadcasting station to provide accurate, neutral and fair news that should amplify the universal values such as freedom and democracy that both countries share. As an area for future cooperation and exchange, by mentioning three Kosovo Judo athletes won gold medals in Rio and Tokyo Olympics, he expressed his sincere wishes for further development and prosperity of Kosovo as well as friendly relations between the two countries.
